The front of the house

This is the view over the city from the front windows. This view is looking northeast. If it were a clearer day (or the resolution of the photo were better), it would be possible to see the bay bridge. The hills in the distance to the right are in Oakland. The large building just across the street in the foreground is an elementary school. (The large number of overhead utility wires is pretty typical of San Francisco, obscuring all these great views.)

This is a view of the of the house and its neighbors from across the street and a little up the block. It's the gray-blue house towards the left, with the tree in front.

This is from directly across the street. We're on the top floor - the left windows are to Susan's office, the right to the living room. The building is in the "Italianate" style of San Francisco Victorian buildings, with some touches from the "stick" style. A mish-mash of styles was typical for later Victorians; ours is actually so late (1910) that it would be more properly called an "Edwardian," but they don't use that term in San Francisco.

This is the entrance to the house. Ours is the door to the left. We share the entry with 222 and 222A Diamond Street. In San Francisco tradition, because we have a separate door and street number, we get to sound British and call it a "flat" instead of an "apartment."

This is the beginning of the long stairway. (Try that carrying groceries.)

And we're nearly there...
