Gamla Stan-Djurgården Panorama, Stockholm City

This is the view of central Stockholm looking north from Fjällgatan on Süderholm. The image is composed from eight 35mm frames taken at eight in the morning in sequence right to left. The changeable, overcast weather is typical of what I experienced while there in July of 1996. All of the water in the view is the Baltic. That's Gamla Stan (old town) in the left quarter of the picture. Lake Mälaren, Stockholm's freshwater lake, is behind Gamla Stan. The gold-topped tower on the left edge of the picture is the Stadshus (city hall), which is on Kingsholmen near the center of Stockholm across the street from my hotel. The island in the second quarter is Skeppsholmen. Just past the center of the picture the island of Kastellholmen, with its little fortress, is in the foreground and directly behind it is the Vasa Museum (angled roof) on Djurgården. Starting in the last third of the picture is Gröna Lund, or "Trivoli", amusement park at the water's edge, with Skansen, an open-air museum, behind it and continuing to the right edge and beyond. All of this on Djurgården island.
