LC Calendar is a perpetual calendar and event display with extra features. It is completely created from JavaScript, HTML and CSS code, so it is fully operational off-line with no additional files required. Its appearance and operation are nearly identical on BOTH Internet Explorer 6x or Netscape Navigator 7x. The LC Calendar is compact. This entire web page is less than 88 kilobytes in size, including the section you are reading. The page size does not include an optional 4.6 kilobyte file of over ninety 2004-2005 year-specific dates for Miami-Dade County, Florida, Public Schools. The external file makes the inclusion of your own dates very easy. SmartDate™ can calculate changing dates, such as Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day and Daylight Saving Time, as well as ecclesiastical dates, including Easter, Good Friday, Ramadan¹, Eid al-Adha¹, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, to name a few. SmartDate even computes the date and time of the new and full moon, displayable in either UTC or local time. The built-in historical database includes over one hundred dates. SmartDate also links the Events Area to the calendar. Dates appearing in the Events Area are highlighted in blue on the calendar. Click the "SmartDate" link below the calendar to see a full list of holidays. Day Counter calculates the number of days between the Current Date and any other by clicking a date button. The Current Date is easily changed to compute the days between any two dates and can be restored to the actual date with just one click. Julian Day, Hebrew and Hijri date information is also shown for the selected day. Hijri dates can be adjusted by ±3 days to correct for the actual lunar crescent sightings. Operator Settings allow customization of the range of available years, initial clock display, event types shown, event date highlighting and calendar body color. Users can dynamically change the clock format and brightness, type of events shown, body color and calendar event highlights, and their display settings are stored for future use. Context-sensitive help is shown in either the status bar or in pop-up balloons when the cursor rests on a button or link, and extensive general help is always available in the Events Area. A single click will show the current month or year without affecting other parameters, and showing the current date is never more than one click away. Special thanks to William H. Jefferys, Marcos J. Montes and John Walker for calendrical calculations and information on their web pages.
