Lake Fork is the world's premier largemouth bass fishing lake, boasting the majority of the top largemouth bass caught in Texas. The current lake record is 18.18 pounds with catches over 10 pounds being common-place. The lake is located about 90 miles east of Dallas, Texas and has about 27,700 surface acres with 315 miles of shoreline. Lake Fork is a "showcase" example of fish management at its best with a clear objective to have outstanding fishing for a long, long time. Stocking began in 1979 with about750,000 Florida black bass, creating a hybrid Texas/Florida largemouth bass. Fish growth is phenomenal with standing timber, hydrilla vegetation, and abundant shad. These factors plus strict limits have all combined to keep Lake Fork's fishing "as-good-as-it-gets". Most bass fishermen catch, weigh, and release. Bream fishing is also great ("as big as your hand") during the spring and summer.

Quail Hollow is located on Little Caney which is a large cove located north of the dam. This area has excellent fishing waters (shallow to 40 feet deep) and great structure fishing (submerged roads, bridges, oil pipelines). In fact, within casting distance of one of the Quail Hollow launching ramps, a submerged dam and pond are outstanding for fishing structure with the depth rapidly changing from 5 to 30 feet.
