Snowy Egret
Oldest Independent U.S. Journal of Nature Writing
Founded as The Bird World in 1922 by Humphrey A. Olsen, Snowy Egret assumed its now-familiar title in 1924 and adopted its present magazine-sized format in 1929. In 1951, under Olsen's continuing editorship, the journal expanded its coverage from its original ornithological emphasis to include all types of nature writing.

Now in its seventy-fifth year, Snowy Egret continues to explore the literary, artistic, historical, and philosophical aspects of natural history and invites all those with strong affinities to the natural world to submit writing and artwork which celebrate the abundance and beauty of nature and examine the variety of ways, both positive and negative, through which human beings interact with the environment and living things.

Snowy Egret gratefully acknowledges Indiana artist Mark Burkett for the design of the Egret logo and Indiana State and Ball State Universities for providing work space and computer equipment. Thank you.

Subscriptions to Snowy Egret are available
