| One of the most widely-read magazine
columns on pig production has been the 15 year series of "What the
Textbooks
Don't Tell You About " in the magazine Pig Progress.
The author, John Gadd, an internationally
recognised pig consultant with over 40 years experience of pig farm
advisory
work, writes about some subjects which he considers are insufficiently
covered in the many textbooks but which exist on pig production.
Sometimes
excluded through lack of space, sometimes lacking an economic
interpretation,
or possibly considered by the textbook's author as being too minor to
include
in his main theme, the subjects chosen for discussion are important
nevertheless
to the practical hands-on farmer.
The author stresses that this book
is complementary to most pig textbooks, and not a substitute for them.
Subjects taken from the "What the
Textbooks Don't Tell You About " series of articles have been
completely
revised and updated, and several new topics, previously not discussed,
have been added...
