Upgrading from a Legacy WebCom account to a Verio E-Commerce Account

All existing WebCommerce customers who upgrade to a new Verio e-commerce account will be given a free month of service, as well as have any account activation fees waived. The Verio Sales staff will be happy to answer any questions you have regarding the various e-commerce plans offered by Verio, as well as assist you in finding the best plan to fit your needs. Please note that it will be necessary to recreate your store files within the new account, as it is not possible to move your existing WebCommerce store files into another Verio e-commerce account.

Steps for moving your web site to the new Verio account

Step 1: Contact one of the Verio Sales Representatives at 1-800-438-8374 (or using the online form) to determine which plan would be best for your needs. You will be opening a new Verio account, and closing your WebCom account, so the billing will be on a separate system than your existing Legacy WebCom account.

Step 2: Once the account has been opened, and before pointing the domain to the new account, you will want to use an FTP program to upload the website files that are not part of your store files to the new Verio account. You will also want to recreate any email addresses you are currently using within the new account.

Step 3: You will then need to contact the registrar of your domain, to point the domain to the new Verio account. Within the activation email of your new Verio account, you will find the name server information that the domain should point to. Additional instructions for this step can be provided by WebCom Technical Support if requested. If the web site files are uploaded to the new Verio account, the email accounts created, and the WebCom account not closed when the domain is moved, the move should be seamless.

Step 4: After about a week you will need to log into your WebCom account and use the "Close Account" services page to close the Legacy WebCom account. Please note that there are no new WebCom accounts being opened at this time, so once the account has been closed, you will not be able to reopen it. It should also be noted that any forms that were set up using the WebCom forms processor will need to be adjusted to work with your new Verio hosting account. It is not possible to continue to use the WebCom Forms Processor, or any WebCom distribution lists, within any of the Verio hosting plans.
