WebCommerce Glossary -- Sort Integer

(This page is an entry in the WebCommerce Glossary.)

The Sort Integer is your way of telling our system what order to put things in when they are displayed in a list. Products, Options and Categories all use the Sort Integer. The lower a number is, the higher its priority. For example, let's pretend that you sell books and hats. If you want hats to appear first in a store that is ordered by category, you will need to make sure that the hats category has a lower Sort Integer than books. If there is a tie between Sort Integers, the store will display them alphabetically. In other words, if you don't want your categories, products and options to be displayed alphabetically, you must assign them Sort Integers.

The Sort Integer must be a whole number from 0 to 1000.

In the example below, Categories for a store selling nuts have been numbered so that the Nuts category is first. This causes Nuts to be listed first on the store catalog page.
