[an error occurred while processing this directive] Creating Your Home Page
This tutorial provides a step by step guide to getting your first page up onto the World Wide Web. Templates and examples of pages created from them are provided, along with detailed instructions on how to alter them for your own use. The tutorial is broken up into three lessons, each of which adds something just a little bit more complex than the last one. Explanations and links to various other related WebCom resources are provided throughout the tutorial.
NOTE: this tutorial explains how to write the HTML for your page manually. More and more, people are beginning to use software that allows them to create Web pages without using HTML; all they do is draw the page and the software saves it in HTML format. If you're using such a tool, you may not wish to learn to code HTML by hand. Simply follow the instructions for your tool, save your page(es) in HTML format, and skip to our intructions for installing your Web page with FTP.
If you're the type who likes to plunge into things head first, then the Web Communications HTML Guide may be more suited to your learning style than these lessons. In any case, links to it are provided throughout these lessons for those who want to go further in depth.
