[an error occurred while processing this directive] Configuring and Using WS_FTP with WebCom
This page will take you step-by-step through the process of configuring WS_FTP to transfer files back and forth between your local computer and your WebCom account. The following instructions assume that you are already dialed into the Internet (if you are viewing this page live online, then you are already dialed in).
Step 1 - Download WS_FTPYou can download the version for your platform at the Ipswitch Web site.
These are "zipped" files, meaning they are single compressed files which contain several files within (this is done in order to save space and download times). In order to extract the files from within these single zip files you need use an "unzipping" program. If you do not already have one installed, you can use WinZip.
Step 2 - Start / Configure WS_FTPWhen you launch WS_FTP you will be automatically taken to the "Session Profile" screen, which will look something like this:

1. Type in these settings into the Session Profile options:
Host Name - ftp.webcom.com/~webcom
User ID - Put your WebCom userid here.
Password - Put you WebCom password here.
2. Make sure the Anonymous Login box is unchecked.
3. Make sure there is nothing entered into the "Remote Host" box.
Once these settings are correct you can click on the OK button, and you will be connected to your WebCom account.
Step 3 - Moving Files Back And ForthOnce you have successfully logged into your WebCom account, the screen will look something like this:

As you can see, the window on the left side shows the contents of the disk on your local system, and the window on the right shows your WebCom home directory. To move files from one side to the other, you simply click once on the file you wish to move, then click once on the arrow between the two columns which points in the direction that you wish to transfer the file (left to right or right to left).
Step 4 - Ending Your FTP SessionTo disconnect from the WebCom FTP server simply click on the Close or Exit buttons at the bottom of the screen.
Other Handy FeaturesWS_FTP also allows you to do other things with your account using the buttons to the right of the Remote System window. You can create new directories (MkDir), delete existing directories (RmDir), as well as delete and rename files (Delete and Rename).
