Using LeapFTP with WebCom
LeapFTP is is very popular with our Tech Support staff because it's very easy to configure and use. If you use a computer running Windows 95/NT/98 we recommend that you give LeapFTP a try.
This page describes how to configure LeapFTP to work with WebCom. If you have questions about using or purchashing LeapFTP, please visit the makers of LeapFTP at www.leapware.com.
Configuring LeapFTP
When you first run LeapFTP you will be presented with an complicated-looking window with three empty fields below the Icon Bar labled: FTP Server, User, and Pass. Fill in those three fields as follows:
Leave the Port field as the default Port 21.
That's it. You're done. To connect to your account on our server and start transferring files, simply click on the connect button. (The yellow lightening bolt near the top left of the window.) The next time you want to use LeapFTP, you don't have to type everything again. Just select ftp.webcom.com/~webcom from the FTP Server dropdown list.
Using LeapFTP
When you're connected to your WebCom account with LeapFTP, you will see your local computer's file system represented on the left side of the window, and your WebCom account on the right. To transfer files from one place to the other, all you need to do is drag a file from one side of the window to the other. Leap FTP offeres many enhanced features such as the ability to delete and rename files. For more information on using LeapFTP, please see the program's built-in help menu.
