[an error occurred while processing this directive] Using Microsoft FrontPage 97 Publishing Wizard This is the second part of the online help for using the FrontPage 97 Publishing Wizard with your WebCom account. See part one of these instructions if you have not already done so. Settings for login and upload In the process of publishing for the first time, you will likely be presented with this error message at some point. [Screen Shot]

Following this error, you will be presented with specific uploading and login options. [Screen Shot] The first dialog asks for the protocol to be used. You will want to choose "FTP" as shown here.

You will next be asked for the username and password to be used when logging in via FTP. [Screen Shot] You will simply enter your Webcom userid and password here.

The Publishing Wizard then asks for the address of the FTP server to which to upload. [Screen Shot] The address of the WebCom FTP server is ftp.webcom.com/~webcom, as shown in the screen shot here.

Finally, you will need to enter the Web publishing directory within your account, and the URL which accesses that directory on the Web. [Screen Shot] If you are publishing a Web site which is to be accessed at http://webcom.com/~webcom/userd/, for example, you will want to enter www/ as the "Subfolder containing your Web pages" and http://webcom.com/~webcom/userd/ as the "URL for your home root". If you are publishing to a subdirectory of the www directory, then you will indicate such on this dialog as www/subdirectory/, and likewise you will want to enter the root URL as http://webcom.com/~webcom/userid/subdirectory/.
NOTE: you do not want to use your custom domain(s) when entering these settings, which have no effect on how your pages are accessed (see our Domain Name documentation for more information). Remember, every custom domain which points to WebCom has an equivalent address which uses the WebCom domain and your userid.

This concludes our guide to using the FrontPage 97 Publishing Wizard. You can return to WebCom's FrontPage Help, or you can see additional Web publishing topics in our Guide to Publishing on the Web.
