Why do files ending in ".htm" wind up ending in ".html" after I transfer them to WebCom?
The WebCom FTP Server can be customized to convert any filename ending in ".htm" to ".html", when a file is transferred to WebCom.
If you find this feature convenient, you would use port 2121 when making your FTP connection.
As a convenience for our users who use operating systems which do not support long filename extensions (e.g. DOS/Windows), if you upload a file named with an .htm, you'll find that it is saved in your WebCom directory with the extension changed to .html, which is the standard filename extension for Web pages. (Similarly, files ending with .sht are automatically renamed to end with .shtml). Again, this conversion will only happen if you are using port 2121.
If you would like to retain the .htm extension when you transfer your files, you can bypass the filename translation by using the default port 21 when making your FTP connection.
