WebCom Domain Name Service (DNS) -- View Status of your Domain Name(s)

This page describes how to use the View Status of your Domain Name(s) service option. To access this or any other domain name service, log in to your account by clicking on "Control Panel" at the left of this page, and then select Domain Name Services from the main menu.

For more information about domain names at WebCom, please see our Domain Name Services documentation.

Description

This screen lists the chronology of events of your domain name registration, update, or move. It includes the date you initiated the process, the date the InterNIC acknowledged your request, and the date the InterNIC actually completed your request. It may also include information about when virtual hosting was activated, when the mail exchange record was changed, and other domain name events.

If you have more than one domain name, you are presented with a list of your domain names; click on the one for which you wish to view status information.

Additional Notes

When a request is fulfilled by the InterNIC, you'll see a message that states that the registration, move, or update is complete. This means the InterNIC has approved your request. However, how soon your domain name become active depends on when the InterNIC actually updates their database, and on how often your ISP updates their DNS records. There is normally a delay of one to three days. If more time that this passes and you are still unable to access your domain, try clearing the cache in your browser and try again. If the problem persists, you should contact your ISP and ask them to update their DNS records to reflect the newly registered or updated domain.

If you are waiting for a request to be completed, and no change has happened for a period of a week or more, contact hostmaster@webcom.com for assistance. Be sure to include the domain and your userid in your message.
