Operating System
WebCom Servers use Unix, the standard operating system for serving data on the Internet.
An operating system (or OS) is the software that an application, such as your word processing program or FTP client, uses to communicate with the physical part of the computer (the chips and boards). Examples of operating systems you may be familiar with are MS-DOS and the Macintosh Operating System. Without the operating system, a computer cannot run any other software.
