
Daniel Webster, an American statesman during the infancy of our country, was dedicated to the principles of freedom, fairness and due process upon which our government was founded. He believed that the government of the United States was accountable for its actions, and was not above the law. In the spirit of Daniel Webster, Congress has now made itself subject to the same laws which govern ordinary citizens. Congress should now take the next step - that of making all Federal Agencies subject to the same laws which govern ordinary citizens. Most abuses would be limited if all federal agencies were merely held to the same degree of accountability as the Internal Revenue Service.
