The Aquamen are a diverse lot, with many different interests, different hair-styles, different body-odors, yet united by their common love of hard liquor and surf-rock. So without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, I give you - The Aquamen!

"First Mate" Srini Kumar - Bass, Ranting

The First Mate plays any functioning bass he can find through a Peavey 5150 (yes, the guitar amp!). He prefers Southern Comfort straight from the bottle, but beggars can't be choosers. Srini has been known to burst eardrums with his Pokemon battlecry of "Satan!!!" His jacket is light blue with many, many stains.

Srini once had a very strange dream about playing Aquashows.

"Cabin Boy" Vixx - Drums, Breaking Stuff, Fixing Stuff

The Cabin Boy's motto is "What I lack in talent - I make up for in entertainment!" That's because he is a drummer who can't really play drums - so he amuses himself by falling over his no-name shiny blue drum-set. His favorite drink is single malt Scotch - in any form. He drives. Fortunately for us, he also writes damn good surf tunes! His jacket is a light blue velour.

Influences : The Ventures, The Surfaris, Slayer, Metallica.

"1st Engineer" Turtle - Gweetar, Metal Posing

Turtle is more amphibious than reptilian in that he is equally happy lashing out metal riffs or surf tunes. While generally reclusive in the wild, he has been spotted falling down in mid-solo, accidentally lighting has hand and the stage on fire, and otherwise making a general fool of himself. Being the one carless Aquaman, he is also often the drunkest (heh heh!). His jacket is a light blue sharkskin, and his tie is quite swank.

Influences : Jim Campilongo

Retired Aquamen

Alas, being an Aquaman is not as easy as it looks. Or maybe it's easy and we just make it look hard. In any case, here are the "non-performing" members of the eternal Aquamen brotherhood:

"Ensign" Nat Bletter - Guitar, Fire-Breathing

Ensign Bletter plays a tobacco sunburst Jaguar through a Twin Reverb and more effects pedals than any drunk person should be allowed in the same room with. His favorite drink is a Gin-and-Tonic, with a Bloody Mary following a close second. He is currently on the east coast learning how to forage liquor in the wild. His jacket is light blue suede.

Influences : Man or Astro Man?, Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet, (all those bands with really really long names), Mermen, the reverb & vibrato on my amp, Smugglers, Pixies, 60's TV Theme songs (I dream of Jeanie, Hawaii-5-0, Munsters)

Zack "Cruise Director" Pitt-Smith - Sax, Percussion, Organ, David Bryne Impersonations

Zack is the master of the quica, the berimbau, the bongoes, the tambourine, the saxophone, the organ and just about any other instrument you put in his hands. His favorite drink is "caipirinha" -- a Brazilian conconction made with sugar cane liquor, fresh lime, and sugar on the rocks. He is currently on sabbatical in Brazil ferreting out exotic new liquors. His jacket is a vibrant blue.

Influences: Jobim, Gilberto

"El Capitan" Mike Drake - Guitar, Forgetting Songs

El Capitan plays a hot-rodded '64 Fender Jaguar through a Fender Super Twin amplifier. He uses strings. El Capitan likes his martinis very dry and with an olive. He drives a white Saab 900 with a deluxe custom made fuel injection system designed by California Customs of Anaheim. His jacket is a light blue tweed.

Influences : Smugglers, Ventures, Astronauts (not the new astronauts), Man or Astro Man?, Lyres, Dave Myers and the Surftones, Dick Dale, Phantom Surfers, Satan's Pilgrims, The Vulcanos (rad!), Laika & the Cosmonauts.....

El Capitan can currently be found blasting out Big Muffed psychedelia on his telecaster with San Francisco's loudest trio - Oranger.

"Iron" Matt Harris - Percussion, Organ, Singing in Technicolor (i.e. Puking in amazing Gin-O-Sonic hues!)
Before joining the Aquamen, Matt played bass in Overwhelming Colorfast, and had the distinctive honor of puking at every Aquashow he attended. Matt now plays bass with Mike in Oranger and is reportedly having much greater success at holding his liquor! Rock on, Matt!

"Lookout" Steve Bank - Percussion, organ, jumping around

The Lookout possesses the largest collection of percussion instruments on the West Coast. This fiery-tempered Latino prefers the subtleties of a fine glass of Rioja or a snifter of Cognac. He drives a green '94 Subaru with strategically placed aerodynamic air scoops along the right front and left rear panels of the car. His jacket is a rich blue. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Influences : Rush
