In this section I have attempted to classify the different types
of calculating machines. This classification is from a collector's
point of view and reflects mainly the items which can still be
found.
The items are divided into 2 majors groups.
Adding Machines: These machines were primarily designed to perform addition and subtraction. They are small, cheap and easy to use.
Calculating Machines: These machines were primarily designed to perform all basic four operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. They are lager machines which required skillful operation and due to there expensive price were usually owned by companies.
Note: You will be presented with a flow chart for each group. At the bottom of each flow chart you will see type classifications in a rectangle box. A click on this box will take you to the pictorial view. So here we go!
